Layout Design
My work on Torque Drift 1 consisted of creating and managing frequent live service updates. One of the main highlights of this was creating new layouts for existing tracks and a newly released track.
Here I faced the challenge of adding to an already extensive roster of layouts. My goal was to create something that felt new but still followed a strict timing/scoring structure.
1st layout - Big Circle
This Layout was difficult to come up with as the track is essentially a blank canvas. I utilised the existing barriers to create a high-speed layout for more advanced cars. As you can tell I am really bad at the game, but you can see how even with a fast car you really need to be able to control the car at speed as one little touch of the wall could stuff your run. This layout is more of a test of endurance rather than skill.
2nd layout - The Wave
This track had many layouts on it already, but none utilised the section I chose as most of them featured slower more technical driving. Again, I wanted to highlight speed as most of the playerbase has matured and own very powerful cars. This section of track also requires you to swich sides often giving optimal room for error but rewarding once mastered.
LZ Compound layouts
These layouts were recreations of the Torque Drift 2 ones I helped create, some of these needed slight adjusting as Torque Drift 1 is generally a faster game and the LZ Compound is quite a small track, these changes were generally clipping points and barriers to give a bit more leniency.
